GROUP PROGRAMS
He really liked learning how to make phone calls and talk to others on the phone. Usually we only used the phone to talk to him as a parent or he'd call his grandparents. He also was mindful and still is of some of the social rules of 'being a good host' and letting others choose games or movies when they come over.
PEERS® Informed Social Skills Group for Adolescents
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Our groups support motivated individuals in building real-world social skills that help with initiating, maintaining, and deepening friendships. In addition to skill-building, there is a strong emphasis on addressing social anxiety and creating a supportive space to practice new ways of connecting.

Participants engage in structured activities, role-plays, and weekly homework to encourage practicing and generalizing skills outside of sessions. Participants are supported step-by-step as they gain confidence in navigating social situations more comfortably and effectively.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Format: In person teen group with caregiver resources provided

Session Length: 90 minutes

Group Duration: Varies by group; typically runs for 4-6 weeks

Pre-Group Support: Teens are recommended to attend 2–3 individual sessions before the group begins to identify strengths, address areas of concern, and begin building capacity to manage social anxiety.

Caregiver Involvement: While teens participate in group sessions, caregivers receive resources and guidance to support continued learning and social growth at home.

Each group is tailored to the needs, interests, and goals of the teens involved. Topics may include:
Conversational skills (verbal and nonverbal)
Building confidence and managing social anxiety
Choosing appropriate friends
Appropriate use of humour
Joining & leaving group conversations
Hosting or planning hangouts
Practicing good sportsmanship
Navigating peer rejection, conflict,
and pressure
Delivery
Workshops are held in-person in the Victoria area.

Voluntary interest from teen & a commitment to attend all sessions
Group Size
Maximum 8 participants and 2 facilitators.

This short-term, weekly group is designed for young adults who are looking to build more social connections. Whether you're navigating social anxiety, feeling "stuck" in conversations, or simply wanting to grow your confidence in social settings, this group offers practical tools and guided practice in a supportive environment.
PROGRAM GOALS
By the end of the group, participants will:

Practice real-world social skills related to friendship and dating through role-play and rehearsal
